To The Death (sermon audio: Sunday a.m.)

The short stories of Mark 8 are drawn together by the lesson Jesus is trying to teach his disciples. You are either being slowly corrupted by the world or slowly purified by the Gospel. Slow growth eventually results in big changes. Jesus desires us to know who he is and why he came to earth. His purpose was to die; and, as his followers, we must do the same. However, if we trivialize the meaning of Christ and the cross, you will trivialize what it means to be a follower. Are we willing to take up our own cross and follow him to the death of our old selves in order to be slowly purified by Him?

I have been 'with' the Lord for 33 years, and I am still amazed at how much I changed in that time. But your words ring true - the change was so slow, I did not realize how I was changing. Also - it didn't hurt a bit. May God bless you indeed.
