Could you specify the portions of the Bible that you charge are left out or seriously edited? Surely you are not trying to include the Gnostic literature that appeared several centuries post-resurrection as something to have been included in the canon? Could you be more specific?Brian Branamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15395341405064832871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6919673094294171167.post-14811050116318396302011-02-15T14:18:45.318-05:002011-02-15T14:18:45.318-05:00So she's never met the authors of the book she...So she's never met the authors of the book she loves but believes they exist. She's doesn't know how makes her toys, but they exist. So she has faith in words written by an unseen woman and an unknown toymaker. So she goes in search of them. She finds clips on YouTube of interviews and tax records for companies that made the toys. then she finds out that the authors have editors, that words are changed, they are made more "marketable", that the words she loves are lies, fiction, make-believe and she finds that her toys have lead and she is playing with products made by slave labor in China. As she pushes deeper into the Bible she starts to find the same problems. The "editors" have taken out large portions, changed others, underplayed the bad, over sold the good, and forced to accept inconsistencies as "mysteries" that we are not to question. Sexism, murder, the destruction of entire civilizations by a "loving" god are explained away to keep the chosen people on track. You touch the Ark, you are killed. You make a mistake, you are stoned, you are born to the wrong parents, your villiage is slaughtered as a sign of dedication to god. Too bad for you. Your own bible says that wisdom comes from the mouths of babes.

maybe you should start listening to your daughter more carefully.Advizor54https://www.blogger.com/profile/02818587592229617693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6919673094294171167.post-75285817831435269172007-08-22T01:15:00.000-04:002007-08-22T01:15:00.000-04:00Wow Brian, As the father of a six year old, a four...Wow Brian,

As the father of a six year old, a four year old, a three year old and a newborn - this post struck me to the very core. It is simply fantastic - deep, vulnerable, powerful. Thanks so much for writing this.

I'm a pastor at a church in Irondale - would you mind if I posted this to our weekly newsletter/blog at www.Cahaba.org?
(with a link back to here, of course)

Grace and Peace,

Chase A.
